Ji grow up on the Chinese-Russian border, and she moved to uk in 2022. After been in UK for 2 years, now she is experiencing a new world with completely different values. Culture shock, emotional aesthetic, political, human rights and freedoms. Life in China is confusing, the unspoken rules, histories that didn't make sense, the impossibility of asking questions, even, and this is worse, of the idea of asking questions. Going through these events allowed me to rethink my art and the activities necessary for an artist. I re-evaluated different forms of expression and how considerations of aesthetics should relate to morality and philosophy. These reflections give new strength to my work. These experience and feelings infuse all my work. The paradox is that I also held on to and value and very proud of other aspects of the cultural that I have inherited; the ancient oriental philosophy that will always be the bases of my work. And this paradox has made me. Now, my art is upheld by a philosophy of allowing materials to find their own stories and spirit through accidents, uncertainty, and flaws, a natural approach to making art avoiding artifice and over construction. All the materials that surrounded me in my daily life could be the part of my art language.
